CARTography
We know that (f)route is a BIG idea.
To create an arts project that trickles throughout ALL of East Gippsland ... is kind of huge.
To explore wild, backyard, secret, luscious fruit - in art! (What were we thinking!)
So, why are we doing it?
Because we think that the stuff that happens around fruit is a major part of east gippsland culture.
It looks good, it makes our lives better, it’s part of our day to day existence. and past. and future.
We reckon that if we can all look at this scrumptious bounty a bit more closely and a lot more slowly, we’ll know more about us.
And it’s something that makes EG a bit special.
So we started with (f)route breakfasts (ie eating fruit). (in nice fruity places).
Then we launched into (f)route CARTS.
But we also want to map our fruit - in many ways.
So - we are pursuing a few different CARTOGRAPHY angles for the (f)route project.
1. (f)route CARTography
SEE: (f)route CARTography blog HERE.
(f)route CARTography brought 3 artists-in-residence to East Gippsland.
Chaco Kato @ Swifts Creek
Samara McIlroy @ Tubbut
Georgia Snowball @ Goongerah & Mallacoota
Each is a contemporary artist whose practice has been shaped in some way by the values of (f)route.
(and vice versa). It’s about their unique, reflective take on food, fruit, ritual, seasons, landscapes.
2. Mapping fruit (GPS-style)
This project seeks (f)route monitors to map real fruit, and (f)route events on our online map.
Interested (f)route monitors should contact us at andrealane@bigpond.com
3. (f)route geocaching
